SENIOR FIBER OPTIC COMMUNICATIONS DESIGN ENGINEER
Job Description:
Leads the design, development, specification, and evaluation of fiber optic networks for high speed signal communications developed particularly for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and CCTV / security systems.
Perform optical power flow budgeting, noise figure calculations and analytical simulations of line card performance based on system design goals/metrics
Implements and maintains equipment, processes, and fixturing needed for testing and evaluating the performance of optical interconnect systems such as laser signal sources, power meters, optical TDRs, and beam profile analysis equipment.Maintains a level of expertise in: optical fiber, optical connectors, active optical interconnects, multimode optics, single mode optics, optical fiber preparation, and optical communication testing
Supports application engineers in interfacing with customers to understand and satisfy optical interconnect application opportunities and requirements.
Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
Interface with vendors to prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications.Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements.
Oversee the whole project activities including physical installation, configuration, cabling, termination, testing, and commissioning
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering or other related discipline from an accredited university
5+ years’ experience in optical communication technologies.
Expertise in measuring, evaluating, and troubleshooting optical channel links
Familiarity and experience with processes for interfacing devices to optical fibers
Excellent interpersonal, communications, management and leadership skills.
Previous experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and CCTV systems is a plus.
