Job Description:Due to continued expansion and growth we now require a Chief Piping Engineer, reporting to the Head of Piping. This position will be based in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure the effective support to Head of Department and management of the Piping team on projects undertaken by the Engineering Office taking into account the company’s objectives in relation to technical quality, internal budget and on-time delivery of projects, and the development of the department.
Management of the relevant Piping department, including allocation of discipline resources to projects, inter-discipline coordination and coordination with project managers;
Having a good knowledge on preparation of plot plan, preparation of piping material specifications & stress analysis.
Ensure that the expectations and agreed technical requirements for projects are met including service to technical quality, service to client, internal budget and delivery;
Participate as a member of the management team in the overall planning and execution of projects in the Engineering office;
Develop and mentor the discipline team/department, including inter alia recruitment, motivation, training and development of staff;
Implementation and improvement of discipline design processes;
Lead the identification and implementation of relevant standards and technologies including computer applications/tools;
Ensure that health and safety is considered on all projects and appropriate actions/mitigation measures are implemented;
Develop and improve relationships with company’s clients;
Actively assist in development of repeat orders and new business, including assisting in preparation of proposals to clients;
Act as Project Engineering Manager on suitable project(s).
Education, Skills and Experience:Degree in engineering
15 years of experience in piping engineering & design, including 10 years in management of engineering design projects with minimum 6 years in engineering office;
Must have accomplished, credentialed Design Engineering Experience carried out Conceptual, FEED, Proposal and Detail Engineering in the field of Oil&Gas, Petrochemical and/or Power projects
Knowledge in performing pipe stress of piping systems in accordance with ASME and ANSI codes Experience in preparing engineering computations and analysis.
Knowledge in execution projects with 3D Design software (PDMS/PDS/etc.).
Knowledge in plot plan preparation.
Post-graduate qualification in relevant discipline or management desirable;
Good understanding of computer applications/tools for the relevant discipline;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
