Yacht cruises have emerged as a top desired entertainment option for citizens and residents in Qatar this summer, according to an industry expert. Qatar boasts 500km of sandy coastline — hence, yachts are never lacking at the docks.
Mosaad Moustafa Eleiwa, Founder and Managing Director of Outing Qatar, luxury tourism agency, told The Peninsula that many families, groups of friends and visiting tourists prefer going on the sea to make the most of the summer.
“The yacht has been popular among our customers this summer,” Eleiwa said. “It is hot, so people prefer going to the sea, especially during Eid. We also got more local interests in this yacht rental.
“Our customers range from families, friends and mixed groups. We also provide services at the ports for watersports, barbecues and long stays until midnight,” he added.
As part of Qatar’s diversification drive, tourism facilities have been overhauled and redeveloped to attract people from both in and outside the country.
The upcoming Doha Port Grand Terminal, scheduled to open later this year, promises to boost the tourism scene for cruise and superyachts. The terminal can welcome up to 12,000 passengers daily, with dual terminals serving two berths.
Besides yachts, helicopter tours and luxury car hire have also grown significantly.
Eleiwa said his company has held customised tours for interested clients and has clients who hire them for luxury cars chauffeur service.
“We do multiple services, like luxury car rental, helicopter tours, and customised events. We had clients who took the full tour package, including helicopter tours. We also have a collection of cars like Bentleys and Mercedes, which we recently rented to some locals.
"We chauffeured them around Qatar from Duhail to Katara and around the top spots. This form of the tour is growing in Doha. Some people want to enjoy the experience of being in a luxury car while seeing Doha.”
