Winners of Scientific Excellence Award 2020 announced

The Organising Committee of the Scientific Excellence Award announced the winners of the 13th Scientific Excellence Award 2020, who will be honoured at the closing ceremony of the award on March 3.

This came during a press conference held by the committee yesterday, where the CEO, Scientific Excellence Award Dr Hamda Hassan al-Sulaiti, announced the names of winners and the medals they won in each category, in the presence of committee members, award winners and their parents, the winning school, winning teachers, and winners from holders of MA and PhD degree holders.

Dr al-Sulaiti congratulated the 83 winners of the prizes and praised their hard work.

She called on all winners to maintain their distinction and work to leave unique and distinct marks in their future.

This edition of the Scientific Excellence Award was considered one of the richest for several reasons, including the wide and large participation by private schools, as well as the diversity of the participation of universities and specialised colleges, and the winning of an award by a technical school for the first time, which is the Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration for boys, she added.

She also affirmed the role of the award in achieving academic progress and building the personality of the outstanding citizen.

On adding new categories to the award, Dr Hamda al-Sulaiti said that this needs to be studied and approved by the Board of Trustees, explaining that the expansion of the award will be from several angles, including the expansion of the number of participants and its categories or one of the accompanying programmes.

For his part, Director Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Independent School for Boys Ahmed Youssef al-Mahmoud expressed his pleasure at winning a prize by the school, and praised the efforts of the school and the arbitration committees, saying this win was a motivation to achieve more excellence in the future.

In turn, the principal of Ali Bin Abdulla Model Independent School Sarah Issa al-Shuraim said this victory proves the excellence of the school in the educational field, and said in this regard, that the school has set future directions targeting 5 groups: the school, the student, the staff, the parents and the community, in order to achieve sustainability in educational development, in addition to programmes and projects that have frameworks and plans, and follow evaluation procedures measuring the continuous impact, and then continuing innovation, applying the highest quality standards in the areas of planning, resource management, student evaluation and learning outcomes, and parental and community participation, which contributed to the school getting a strong performance in academic achievement.

The award aims to spread the culture of creativity and scientific excellence in the Qatari society and improve learning outcomes.

The objective of the award is also to motivate all individuals and educational institutions to develop their performance and appreciation of the distinguished scientifically and celebrate their efforts in educational attainment and academic study.

It also encourages and deepens the concepts of excellence and enhance positive trends towards knowledge and scientific research among students and spread the spirit of innovation and competition among them.

The Scientific Excellence Award is considered the most important and the highest honour in the academic field awarded to graduates in general and university education as well as at the masters and PhD levels in addition to the distinguished teacher, school, and scientific research.
