A delegation from the regional office for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organisation (WHO) visited Al Wakra Municipality to review its sustainable development file and the most prominent projects and initiatives of the municipality in preparation for its adoption as the third 'Healthy City' in Qatar after the adoption of Doha and Al Rayyan in 2021.
The delegation was briefed on the important projects and programmes implemented by Al Wakra, which contributed to obtaining the Unesco Learning Cities Award for 2021, as one of the WHO objectives within the criteria of the Healthy City programme, in co-operation with the Ministry of Public Health.
The programme of the visiting delegation included attending the 3rd 'Al Wakra Read' event and visiting the old Al Wakra market. They also visited the Al Wakra Hospital and learnt about the diagnostic and therapeutic services it provides and its role in contributing to creating a healthy, disease-free community in the city and surrounding areas.
The delegation praised the distinguished level of services provided by Al Wakra Hospital to the patients, its quality certificates and accreditation from several international institutions, and its commitment to global standards of service it provides. (QNA)
