As the rainy season starts, the Ministry of Interior has provided some safety tips to motorists.
Driving in rainy condition may be dangerous if we are not cautious enough, the ministry warned.
Motorists are advised to ensure that the wipers are functional and they can clean the windshield.
“The slippery surface between the tires and the wet road makes vehicles lose control and skid,” the ministry said on its Twitter account.
Traffic officer Captain Fahad Bu Hindi at the General Directorate of Traffic said traffic patrols play a major role on all roads during rain, dust or fog.
“Drivers are urged to stop their vehicles in the absence of visibility during heavy rain.”
Traffic patrols halt all trucks from driving in fog and poor visibility, he said.
In an interview published on the ministry website, he pointed out that driving in the rain requires more attention and caution in addition to following the safety procedures for safe driving, including leaving a safe distance between the vehicles and avoiding using mobile phones.
