Vodafone upgrades network in preparation for 5G launch

Vodafone Qatar has announced that it is the “first telecom operator in the country to deploy the latest data technology evolution and features on its world-class network”. 

Vodafone Qatar customers are now experiencing enhanced data speeds that can reach up to 700Mbps, which allows for seamless online streaming and superfast downloads of movies and games. 

This is because of a number of capability upgrades made to Vodafone Qatar’s network, rating its performance among the top five Vodafone networks globally, which includes increasing the 4G bandwidth on more than 80% of its network and expanding its 4G coverage to 98% of its outdoor mobile sites, out of which 90% are on 4G+. 

Moreover, Vodafone Qatar upgraded more than 150 indoor sites to 4G for a “superb network experience” in malls and other commercial buildings. On top of this, Vodafone Qatar enhanced its “crystal-clear voice quality” with customers’ calls connecting in less than 5.6 seconds, the company said in a statement. 

The evolution of Vodafone Qatar’s network technology is the first step towards launching 5G. Currently, the industry is only showcasing tests and trials of 5G with Vodafone globally have led on several of these. Vodafone Qatar expects to bring 5G services to reality by the end of the year, accelerating the country towards becoming one of the most connected and technologically advanced in the world.
