Engineer Fahd Mohamed al-Otaibi, head of Western Areas Section in the Roads Projects Department, said that the recently completed works under this project comprise construction of a new signalised junction at Al-Sailiya Road, aimed at connecting it to the newly constructed 2.1 km street, which leads to Al-Sailiya Central Market’s truck parking. The improvement works included construction of a 2.3km section of Al-Sailiya Road that links the new traffic signal to Al-Majd Road to provide access to the market via the exit located at Al-Sailiya Road.
This opening also coincides with the opening of Al Sailiya Central Market. The new road and junction will serve the market's visitors and more than 200 commercial outlets.The openings will also facilitate truck traffic towards Al-Majd Road. Works also included lighting and road markings as well as other road elements to improve traffic safety.
As part of the Road Improvement Works in Rayyan Area - Phase 5 Project, Ashghal completed the construction of 2.2km of roads that serve and connect the local sewerage plant with Al-Sailiya main road used by around 2,500-3,000 tankers a day. Project works also included the construction of a two-lane road and storm water drainage. Street lighting works are currently underway.
