Doha: The number of traffic violations in Qatar saw a significant decline last February, official statistics showed.
Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority issued its monthly statistics today, which showed that the month-over-month decline in traffic violations was 7.5 percent at 168,674. The total number of total traffic accidents was 617, declining 11 percent on M-o-M basis.
Traffic accidents deaths were down 37.5 percent and 28.6 percent on a monthly and annual basis respectively, reaching 10 deaths in February. The total number of registered vehicles jumped 19.2 percent on an annual basis to 6015. Meanwhile the number of new licenses issued were 7229, down 1.2 percent on a monthly basis.
Population figures stood at 2.782 million, up from 2.773 million estimated in February of last year.
Electricity utilization in February was down 6.1 percent on a monthly basis to 2701.1 GWh. That figure is up 35 percent on an annual basis. Water consumption was 49541.9, down 4.9 percent on a monthly basis but up 62 percent compared to February of 2019.
