Traffic violations cases fall by 62% in April

Number of traffic violations have fallen by 62 percent in April compared to March this year while the number traffic accidents cases (accidents without injuries) have decreased by nearly 32 percent according to latest issue of Qatar Monthly Statistics bulletin released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).

In the new issue, the PSA said that significant changes occurred in some of the country’s statistical indicators in April, as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on various sectors.

The bulletin data indicated that the services of the e-government portal “Hukoomi” decreased to nearly half, during the month of April, with 45000 services transactions, compared to 86400 transactions made in the previous month, a change of 47.9 percent. In terms of real estate, the number of sold properties decreased by 25 percent compared to March.

The drivers licenses issuance for both Qatari and non-Qatari, witnessed a significant decline, amounting to about 97.8 percent on a monthly basis, while the annual decline was 98.8 percent.

With regard to new registered vehicles, the bulletin indicated that the total number of registered vehicles during the month of April 2020 amounted to 2535 new vehicles, a decrease of 41 percent on monthly basis and 55.6 percent on an annual basis.

Demographic data showed that the total population of the country increased to 2.81 million in April this year, from 2.77 million in the same month last year.

April witnessed a decrease in the total of marriage contracts and divorce cases on a monthly basis, by 46.4 percent and 85.2 percent, respectively, as the total marriage contracts reached 150 contracts, while the total number of divorces cases was 12.
