Doha: As Ramadan approaches, the General Directorate of Traffic said that it will deploy more traffic patrols, in a bid to stop traffic accidents and reduce traffic congestion.
The Department urged motorists to comply with the speed limit as many motorists hurry during Iftar time which can cause accidents.
Speaking to Qatar Radio today, Capt Fahd Buhendi, Head of Missions and Support Department at General Directorate of Traffic said that “the department has prepared an integrated plan during Ramadan to avoid traffic congestions.”
The plan includes a massive deployment of patrols in the morning and evening period, especially before Iftar and after Taraweeh prayer, to prevent traffic obstructions and regulate traffic, he said.
He urged drivers to abide by the traffic law, especially the speed limit issue, before Iftar as many of them rush to their homes during the pre-Iftar hours.
Buhendi explained that the patrols will be present in places such as Katara and Lusail, and all the places where frequent visits are made during this month.
He also advised cyclists to stick to the specified speeds, especially the youth.
The traffic patrols, as usual, will be also in front of schools, restaurants, sweetmeat shops and supermarkets.
