Sidra
Medicine, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and
Community Development will bring together world-leading experts and
practitioners from 10 countries for a symposium to accelerate advanced
and experimental therapies.
The two day ‘Advanced Therapies
Symposium’ starting from this Saturday at Four Seasons Doha, aims to
share knowledge and research and spur innovation in advanced treatments
ranging from cellular, gene therapy, molecular-targeted therapies and
immunotherapy.
The conference will help ongoing research and drive
scientific knowledge in the area of translational research and early
clinical applications. It will shed light into the development phases,
clinical trials, and regulatory aspects of these therapies, particularly
in the field of Oncology, Haematology, Immunology, Inflammatory and
Autoimmune disorders, to engender better and more personalised treatment
options, and bring important health benefits.
Those interested in
attending can register at
http://events.sidra.org/event/advanced-therapies-in-healthcare/ and a
limited number of spaces are available for on-site registration on both
days.
The conference will feature leading figures and experts from
the Middle East, Europe and the US. Key international speakers at the
event include Soldano Ferrone, faculty member of the Department of
Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School,
Adrian Thrasher, professor of paediatric immunology at UCL Great Ormond
Street Institute of Child Health, and Michele Maio, director of the

others.
Providing a rich mixture of workshop sessions and keynote
lectures, the conference is open to physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
allied health providers, medical students and other practitioners who
care for patients with oncological, haematological, immunology,
inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Attendees at the symposium can
gain 14.75 Continuing Medical Education (CME) points since it is an
Accredited Group Learning Activity (Category 1).
Dr Chiara Cugno,
director, Clinic Research at Sidra Medicine said, “We are committed to
creating effective platforms for healthcare professionals to
collaborate, share best practices and methodologies and to developing
programmes that advance personalised medicine in Qatar and beyond.
This
conference is a critical part of our long-term goal to boost the
introduction of advanced treatments, especially in cell and gene therapy
in Qatar. It goes a long way towards supporting our ambition to
introduce ground-breaking technologies and techniques that will
significantly improve the lives of children, young people and women in
the country.”
