Thundery rain to continue in Qatar; lower temperatures likely during weekend

Doha: Thundery rain is expected to continue during the weekend in some places in Qatar. On its weather update for the weekend, Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) also warned of strong wind and poor visibility.

Temperatures are also expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius at the lowest and 38 degrees Celsius at the highest. 

From Friday, weather conditions will be hazy at first then becoming partly cloudy. Cloudy weather will also prevail during the weekend and chances of scattered rain at times, both inshore and offshore, are expected. 

On Friday, sea heights will range from 2-4 ft rising to 5ft at times inshore while offshore will range from 3-6 ft rising to 10 ft. Meanwhile, on Saturday, sea heights are expected to reach 1-3 ft rising to 4 ft at times inshore and 2-4 ft rising to 6 ft at times offshore. 

Visibility will mainly range from 4 to 8 kilometres on both days. 

Several parts of Qatar received rain, thundery in some places, on Thursday morning as forecasted weather fluctuations continue until the end of this week.
Locations such as Doha, Al Wakra, Al Wukair, and Ain Khaled witnessed thundery rain accompanied with lightning. 

QMD also shared a few tips to ensure safety during lightning and thunderstorms. These include:

- Stay away from open areas and seek shelter immediately

- Stay away from highland areas, roofs, trees and electricity poles

- It is considered safe to stay inside your car as long as the windows are kept closed
