Qatar Street Food Festival 

Fans of street food in Qatar are in for a treat this weekend as Al Bidda hosts the second edition of street food festival that starts today. Visitors will get a chance to experience a wide range of restaurants, from local and oriental to Asian, American, and European, Mediterranean and other cuisines. The festival will also have many events related to food and cooking as well as various competitions and awards for visitors.

Bake off Qatar - Season 1

This weekend is the finals of the homemade cake competition where 20 best home bakers were selected of the 120 that participated last week. The finalists will be judged on taste, design and creativity, and presentation. The finale will have cultural events and visitors will get a chance to taste all the cakes prepared.

Farmers Market 

The third season of Torba Farmers Market will open on 16 November and for this season it will be only on Saturdays from 8 am to 8 pm. The market brings together vendors and thousands of community members supporting local food producers and agriculture. It offers a wide range of products including freshly-baked goods, fruits, vegetables, homemade preserves, syrups, and handicrafts.  Also Torba Junior, an initiative for kids (for 5-12-year-old) to practice their entrepreneurial skills, will also open the same day. At the market, five Torba Junior booths are set up for mini vendors.

Where: Ceremonial court in Qatar Foundation. 

When: Saturdays only, November 16 onwards

Oman National Day Celebrations  

Omani troupe will entertain visitors at Mall of Qatar with their traditional instruments on Monday, November 18 as they will be celebrating Oman’s National day. The troupe consists of 15 dancers, singers and musicians who will take over the Oasis stage for 3 performances at 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm. The mall’s visitors will also be offered Omani sweet (Halwa) throughout the day along with branded balloons.

Ajyal Film festival 2019

Ajyal Film Festival presented by Doha Film Institute (DFI) feature ninety-six films from 39 countries that demonstrate the power of storytelling to transform minds. This screeing is from November 18 to 23. Actor and producer Chace Crawford, known for his role in teen drama series Gossip Girl, is among the special guests at the festival. Made in Qatar line up will shine the spotlight on Qatari talents with 22 films, the Made in India section will present 8 Indian short films.

Where: Katara, The Pearl, Doha Festival City and the Museum of Islamic Art Park.

Qatar’s Best Talents

Mall of Qatar’s ‘Qatar’s Best Talents’ takes place every Friday at the Oasis stage. Singing duets, hip-hop performances, folk dances and piano recitals are some of the excellent entertainment mix to be showcased as part of the programme.

‘Qatar’s Best Talents’, in their third season, showcases up to 10 performances in dancing, singing, and other performing arts selected by MoQ.

The Perfume Show Arabia 2019

The Perfume Show will be a first trade and consumer show for perfumes, fragrances and accessories in the GCC. It will exhibit the latest products, current trends, innovations and special offers, a perfect platform for sellers and buyers to come together.

Cultural Diversity Festival

Katara will host folkloric shows and traditional arts as part of the 4th Cultural Diversity Festival every weekend.

The festival features an array of cultural performances from different nations around the world and aims to act as bridge between cultures and provide a multicultural harmonious environment.

The fourth edition features folkloric bands from 14 countries: Qatar, Turkey, Portugal, Philippines, Mexico, Hungary, Singapore, Poland, Korea, Taiwan, Sweden, Mozambique, Nigeria and Lithuania.

The festival is free for everyone.

Friday Souq

A new market to sell produce from local farms has opened at Oxygen Park's Senses Garden in Education City.

Visitors to the family-friendly market can find something to suit all tastes, including a diverse range of stalls selling food, clothes, handmade products and other goods, as well as a children’s playground and an array of activities including painting, coloring, and henna. The Friday Souq also has a kids’ care facility where parents can leave their children to play while they shop.

‘The State of You’ Exhibition

Qatari multidisciplinary designer Aisha Nasser Al Sowaidi explores the potent power of scents to evoke memories and trigger emotions in her unique olfactory installation “The State of You”.The installation comprises seven units shaped like small domes made of concrete and gypsum bearing traditional patterns. Each of the dome emits a certain scent when a visitor stands beneath it.

Exhibition of Indian gems and jewelry

More than 100 magnificent pieces of gems, jewelry, works on paper and photography are on display at an exhibition dubbed “Set in Stone: Gems and Jewels from Royal Indian Courts” at MIA as part of Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture.

The most impressive object on display is known as the ‘Clive flask’, a 17th century jewel-encrusted jade flask that once belonged to Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive of Plassey (1725- 1774). This object- remarkable for both its beauty and provenance – is being displayed in Doha for the first time.

Another highlight is the magnificent necklace from Varanasi: composed of seventeen diamonds suspended with gold-collared emeralds surmounted by baroque pearls, this necklace showcases the continued opulence of 19th century Maharajas.
