Doha: As winter solstice, characterized as the shortest day and longest night in the northern hemisphere, set to happen tomorrow, December 21, it will mark the end of the fall season and beginning of the winter season.
On its latest update, QMD stated that this astronomical phenomenon occurs sonically and happens "as a result of the Earth's tilt at an angle of 23.5 degrees as it revolves around the sun."
On its weather forecast for today, QMD stated that weather inshore until 6pm will be hazy to misty at some places at first followed by mild daytime and scattered clouds to partly cloudy at places.
Offshore will be hazy with some clouds becomes partly cloudy, the report added.
Wind inshore will be mainly southeasterly 05 to 15 knot.
Offshore, it will be southeasterly to southwesterly 05 to 15 knot.
Visibility will be 4 to 8/3 kilometer or less at places at first.
Sea state inshore will be 1 to 3 feet. Offshore it will be 2 to 4 feet.
