Several shopping complexes in Qatar make Ehteraz green status compulsory for entry

UPDATE: People on business and visit visa are not able to activate the Ehteraz app currently as it needs a QID for the same. An update of the app with these options is not available yet.

Some leading hyper markets said they are allowing entry if a copy of the visa is produced at the entrance while others are strictly following the Ehteraz app.

We will keep updating the story as we get more information in this regard.

Doha: With contact tracing app Ehteraz being made compulsory for residents in Qatar, several shopping complexes in the country are now checking the status on the app and are allowing only visitors with green colour code to enter the premises.

Al Meera, Monoprix, Carrefour, LuLu and Safari Hypermarkets are some of the supermarkets and malls who have put up messages on their social media pages or at the building informing customers that Ehteraz green tag is necessary to access the store.

LuLu has put a poster in their branches that “customer without Ehteraz app will not be allowed to enter the premises. The Green code in the app which mentions the healthy status of the customer will also be verified before entering the premise.”

Carrefour Qatar on Facebook added "As per the government guidance, it is mandatory to activate Ehteraz App before entering the store."

"Thank you to show your Ehteraz green tag to access the store. Your safety is our priority," read a post by Moniprix Qatar on its social media.

Al Meera in its status showed that those with green code (healthy) will only be permitted while others with yellow (quarantined), grey (suspected) or red (confirmed) code will not be permitted inside for shopping.

More supermarkets including Family Food Centre, Saudia Hyper, Rawabi and Grand Mall also confirmed that they are implementing the green status rule for entrance.

Residents welcomed this move as many hoped that it will make shopping a stress free experience since people will be more careful about disobeying quarantine rules.
