A second cruise ship to serve as a floating hotel for the World Cup fans arrived at Doha Port yesterday.
MSC Poesia came a day after 22-deck MSC World Europa was unveiled at its naming ceremony in Doha. “The floating hotel MSC Poesia is 293.8m long and has a beam of 32.2m. It offers a variety of different accommodation and a world of dinning and entertainment venues,” Mwani Qatar said in a tweet yesterday while announcing the arrival of the cruise ship.
MSC Poesia is an innovative cruise ship with elegant style that brings traditional craftsmanship to creative designs, according to MSC Cruises website.
There are many sports and fitness activities available on board, including a basketball court, tennis court, shuffleboard, state-of-the-art gym and mini-golf.
Kids and teens are equally well served, with their own clubs and parties, a dedicated Stone Age and Dinosaur Play Area, and video games.
There are all the resort amenities one could wish for, including three swimming pools, four whirlpools and a giant poolside cinema screen. The gourmet cuisine on board brings guests specialities from around the world, but retains its Mediterranean heart, rooted in the values of the Italian slow food movement.
The floating hotels are one of several facilities provided by Qatar for the World Cup fans, offering multiple booking and accommodation options throughout the tournament, including apartments, villas, fan villages and hotels.
MSC World Europa docked at cruise terminal of Doha Port on Thursday. It is the most innovative and environmentally advanced cruise ship in the MSC Cruises fleet.
Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive H E Akbar Al Baker said on Sunday during a media briefing that Qatar has taken significant steps to consolidate its position as a world-class destination for cruise tourism.
Al Baker stated that the floating hotel ‘MSC World Europa’, which arrived at Doha Port on Thursday, is one of the three floating hotels designated to host fans during the World Cup.
MSC World Europa is the first LNG-powered vessel in MSC Cruises’ fleet and the most environmentally advanced to date. It virtually eliminates local air pollutant emissions like sulphur oxides and reduces nitrogen oxides by up to 85%.
