During its initial run, the SEC offered an assortment of entertainment activities, such as the "world’s largest bouncy castle," Qatar’s first InflataPark spread over 1,200sq m, a mini golf course, a 1,200sq m skate park, a large ocean ball for kids, mini driving school, and a synthetic ice skating rink, among others.
The Entertainment City is also part of QNTC’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ (SiQ) programme 2019, aimed at offering a different types of entertainment and activities to people staying in the country during the summer break.
“For the reopening of the Summer Entertainment City, the agenda of QSports is to provide more entertainment options, which include adding more rides and other types of family-oriented entertainment options,” SEC head of Business Development Unit Aya Kassab told Gulf Times.
QSports has added several more activities for different age groups, such as an inflatable maze, giant slide, and other attractions, among many others.
Spread across a sprawling 29,000sq m area inside the DECC, the Entertainment City offers a variety of attractions, such as video and virtual reality (VR) games, amusement rides, skills games, a large food court and different pop-up shops, as well as live entertainment shows.
SEC has dedicated a 6,000sq m area for VR and video games, which showcases some of the world’s most-advanced VR simulators, gaming stations and themed gaming areas, including Pac-Man, Beat Sabers, and FIFA.
Aside from fun and entertainment, Kassab also said SEC will continue to offer visitors a variety of delicious options courtesy of the 45 food stalls inside the venue, as well as shopping extravaganza from more than 50 retail vendors.
The QNTC announced that its SiQ programme will conclude on August 16. However, the SEC will continue to operate until August 23 to complement other ‘staycation’ offerings inside the country courtesy of hotels, malls, and other strategic partners of the QNTC.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a recent SiQ event, QNTC’s Khalid al-Jumaili said he was confident that this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations will cater to many residents, especially to visitors of the Entertainment City.
