A total of 439 road traffic cases were recorded during August 2019, showing a monthly decrease of five percent, according to the 68th issue of Qatar Monthly Statistics bulletin released by The Planning and Statistics Authority.
Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents during the same month, with 89 percent, followed by severe injuries by 10 percent. However, three deaths were recorded, equivalent to only one percent of total traffic accidents, the bulletin reveals.
According to the bulletin, the total population of Qatar increased by 4.1 percent to reach 2.67 million at end of August 2019 compared to 2.56 million during August 2018.
The total deposits and total credit facilities of commercial banks grew at an annual rate of 0.5 percent and seven percent respectively in August this year, compared to August 2018.
August experienced a decrease in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 282 contracts, whereas the total number of divorces has reached 89 cases; namely, one divorce for every three marriages.
Social Security statements, reached QR86,000 during the month for 15,851 beneficiaries.
A total of 2043 live births were registered during the month, reflecting a fall of 3.4 percent compared to July 2019. A decrease in the total Qatari live births by three percent was registered, compared to last month. On the other hand, 155 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 10.4 percent compared to July 2019.
Total electricity consumption during August 2019 was 5307GWh attaining a monthly increase of 2.1 percent and an annual rise of 27.6 percent.
The total water consumption reached 58.94 million cubic metres during the month registering a monthly decrease of 0.5 percent and an annual rise of 51.7 percent.
The data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 415 permits during August 2019, recording a monthly decrease of 40.5 percent.
The total number of registered new vehicles during August 2019 has reached 3,970. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 23.1 percent and an annual increase of 4.0 percent.
In banking sector, total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about QR551.5bn during August 2019, showing an annual decrease of 5.1 percent compared with August 2018.
Cash equivalents including Commercial Bank Deposits stood at QR811.2bn during August 2019 recording an annual increase of 0.5 percent compared to August 2018.
