Doha: Corniche and some roads leading to Central Doha have been closed off to traffic as it will only be accessible by pedestrians from today, November 1, until December 19, 2022.
General public working along the Bank Street and West Bay accessed their offices using alternate roads and public transport, including the Doha Metro, bus and taxis.
One of the employees with a private bank, Carol D'Souza opted to take a taxi till the Sword Signal and then walked to her office through Bank Street. Jennette who usually drives to work said that she was unsure of parking spots and so decided to take the cab rather than hunting for parking in the busy B-Ring road.
Motorbikes, bicycles and scooters will be prohibited in the Corniche, pedestrianised areas and public parks from November 1 to December 19.
Four accessible car parks for people with disabilities are available in central Doha - Hotel Park, Post Office, Al Bidda Park (Car Park 5) and Doha Port.
Six convenient taxi, Uber and Careem drop-off / pick-up locations are operational in Central Doha - Ashghal Tower, Al Bidda Metro Station, Souq Waqif, Qatar Sports Club, MIA Park and Cruise ship Hotels.
Shuttle buses leading to Corniche - C806 - is available from today starting from 9am to 3am with one bus every 15 minute.
