DOHA: Implementing of the National Address will start in the next few days, Brigadier Salim Saqr Al Muraikhi, Director of Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior, said.
“The various procedures to implement the law are in the final steps. We are also in the process of completing the training of staff to make it easier for citizens and residents,” Al Muraikhi pointed out.
Brigadier Al Muraikhi told Al Rayyan TV that the registration procedure is simple and will be through Matrash 2 or at the centers of the Ministry of the Interior.
The law specifies that the national address data will include one’s residence address in Qatar, landline and cell phone numbers, e-mail address, and work address for those who work in government or private sector, he said in the interview.
Brigadier Al Muraikhi explained that the national address is the address chosen by the person to correspond with the state or other bodies.
He explained that the aim of the national address is to ensure access to the person concerned in issues related to personal and public interests of the State.
Any person, whether a citizen or a resident, fails to register his/her data within six months from the date of the commencement of the official registration process, he/she will be punishable under article 6 of the National Address Act.
There will also be a fine, not exceeding QR10,000, for anyone who violates any of the provisions of articles (3) and (4) of this Act, or knowingly informs the competent authority of incorrect data about its national address.
