QRCS, SRCS team up to implement flood relief project in Sudan

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Sudan Red Crescent Society (SRCS) on Sunday signed an agreement to implement multi-sector response project for recovery from the effects of floods.

The signing of the agreement was attended by HE the Member of the Sudanese Sovereign Council and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Health Emergencies Prof. Siddiq Tawer, Acting Charge d'Affairs of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Sudan Talal Farhan Al Anzi, HE Secretary-General of QRCS Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi and Secretary-General of SRCS Dr. Afaf Ahmed Yahya.

Meanwhile, a plane carrying a shipment of medical equipment and items provided by the QRCS arrived at Khartoum Airport Saturday to help confront the second wave of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and respond to the relief of Ethiopian refugees in Sudan.

HE Prof. Siddiq Tawer said Qatar's position and support are a model for partnership that other countries should follow, stressing that Qatar has always been supporting and providing humanitarian and relief aid to Sudan, especially in natural disasters during floods and the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, which helped those affected by these disasters.

While expressed her happiness at the support provided by the State of Qatar through the QRCS, Dr. Afaf Ahmed Yahya said that this position is not strange for Qataris and that they have been supporting Sudan.

HE Al Hammadi affirmed that the State of Qatar stands with Sudan, and said that QRCS has been providing Sudan with assistance and services in the fields of education, health, water and other fields that included many states.
