The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi, executive director of the Relief and International Development Division; and Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law. They discussed the humanitarian situation and needs in Sierra Leone, and how to work together on providing emergency aid for victims of disasters, particularly in rural areas, where medical, food and other services are lacking. Al-Hammadi emphasised QRCS’s willingness to offer every form of help to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable in Sierra Leone and other African countries. The two sides agreed to facilitate co-ordination between QRCS and Sierra Leone Red Cross Society in order to assess the needs and identify the currently most urgent areas of intervention.
