Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is considering investing in Katara and Qatar Airways, the authority's chief executive officer said during an interaction at Georgetown University in Qatar on Wednesday.
Elaborating on this, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani said: "Katara is in the pipeline and Qatar Airways could be the next one.
“These are the two companies that we see on our radar in the mid-term. We are trying to create good portfolio for them.”
Talking about supporting local entities, he said: “We are trying to form a strategy internally for many national organisations such as Katara, Qatar Airways and several other organisations in the country. With that, we will be supporting them financially, we will support them in their organisations, provide them human capital. We will accept at least 10 graduates from the Education City campuses. We all also provide all other assistance they need.” According to Sheikh Abdullah, QIA has adopted a proper strategy to reallocate its investment as well as diversification in geographical areas. “These all are part and parcel of the new strategy which is working very well. One of them is allocating assets that can help us in facing either crises such as the present one or make use of the opportunities that you would get. This allows you to move your liquidity from one place to another," he explained.
