QCB to hold conference on information security in financial institutions

Qatar Central Bank (QCB), under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, will organise the 4th conference of information security in the financial institutions on November 5-6.

A statement by QCB said the conference, which will be held under the title “cyberhacking and its impact on the economy”, is given attention by all sectors of Qatar Central Bank, especially in the light of the current circumstances in the region and in view of the world’s crises and developments and their impact on the economy.

The conference is within the framework of the 2017/2022 financial sector strategy to achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. It also enjoys the active participation of all financial institutions and banks in the country.

A large number of specialists in security and protection of information, both locally and internationally, are expected to attend the conference which will address a number of topics related to information security, especially in light of the current developments in information technology and associated risks represented in the number of attacks and electronic hackings that targeted a number of bodies and systems in some countries and international institutions as well as companies, in addition to the increased need to pay more attention to security and protection of information.

According to the QCB statement, invitations were extended to a number of Gulf and Arab central banks and international financial institutions as well as ministries and information-

security-related agencies.
