QC Ramadan projects to benefit  630,000 people in Qatar

Qatar Charity (QC) expects to reach out to 630,000 fasting people in Qatar during the holy month by implementing a number of projects and programmes as part of its Ramadan campaign, ‘Giving is the Secret to Happiness’, at a cost of about QR16mn. 

QC’s Ramadan initiatives include several Iftar projects for fasting people, targeting workers and community gatherings in particular, as well as Iftar meals and Zakat ul-Fitr projects for low-income families, the organisation has said in a press statement.

The charity is also organising a number of cultural programmes, events and supporting voluntary initiatives, in partnership with organisations such as Baraha, Humanitarian Action Event, Youth Initiatives Competition, Al-Siddiqiyoon, You're not alone and Moaayashah (Co-existence).

The most significant Ramadan projects are as follows: Iftar tables for fasting people, Iftar meals for single workers, From Home to Home, Iftar meals for Industrial Zone workers, Ramadan supplies, mobile Iftar, providing water to congregations, Ramadan gift, Al-Aqraboon, Zakat ul-Fitr and Eidi (gift) for orphans, QC has said.

This year, QC is organising 39 Iftar tables for fasting people in different parts of the country, such as Al Khor, Thakhira, Simaisma, Khartiyat, Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan, Al Sheehaniya, Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Muaither South and North, Al Sailiya, Bin Omran, Bin Mahmoud, Umm Salal Mohamed, Al Kabaan, Al Aziziyah, Izghawa, Old Al Ghanim, Al Muntazah, Ain Khaled, Al Shamal, Fereej Abdul Aziz, Al Hilal, Rawdat Rashid, Al Jamiliya and Barzan. 

During the entire month of Ramadan, these projects will target 225,000 fasting people with a focus on single workers, passers-by and low-income earners, and provide them with ready Iftar meals to break their fast. 

The second project focuses on single workers and serves ready Iftar meal to them with a focus on bachelor gatherings. This project is being implemented in Al Ghuwariyah, Simaisma, Al Khor, Al Khuraib, Al Sheehaniya, Abu Nakhla and Al Wakrah. Around 18,000 people are expected to benefit from the project.

As part of the From Home to Home project, Qatari families prepare and serve Iftar meals to low-income families with the aim of meeting some of their needs during Ramadan. As many as 6,000 people are expected to benefit from the project. 

The fourth project involves the distribution of Iftar meals among workers in various parts of the Industrial Area. The locations will change every day are to cover the largest number of workers during the month. This project will reach out to 12,000 beneficiaries, QC has said.

The Ramadan supplies project will provide parcels containing essential foodstuffs for the holy month, distributed to families with limited income via coupons gifted by Qatar Charity at the beginning of the holy month. About 2,000 families are expected to benefit.

The mobile Iftar initiative involves the distribution of snacks prepared by Qatari productive families to motorists who are not able to reach their homes for Iftar. This Ramadan, it is expected that 15,000 motorists will benefit from the project. 

The project for providing water to congregations is under way in 43 mosques in co-operation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Water bottles are distributed to congregations while they perform Taraweeh and night prayers. As many as 242,000 people are expected to benefit.

The Ramadan gifts project involves the provision of financial aid to low-income families registered with QC before the start of Ramadan to meet their living needs in the holy month. The number of beneficiaries reached as many as 1,000 families this year. 

As part of the Al-Aqraboon initiative, implemented by QC for the third consecutive year with the start of Ramadan, a number of media figures and social media influencers participate with the aim of providing financial aid to needy families, who may not visit charities for help, as well as supporting difficult cases within the country. 

Zakat ul-Fitr is given to low-income families on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The number of beneficiaries is expected to reach 1,000 families.

Eidi is a gift distributed among orphans sponsored by QC before Eid al-Fitr to bring some joy to them. This year, Eidi will be gifted to 324 orphans.
