The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s Department of Agricultural Research reviewed yesterday ways to develop co-operation and exchange experiences in food security and environmental protection with a number of research organisations affiliated with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the United Kingdom.
During meetings that were held via visual communication technology, and in co-operation with the British embassy in Doha, the departments discussed several issues of interest to both sides, aiming to develop co-operation and exchange experiences in food security, organic agriculture, and the protection of humans, animals, land and marine environment, in addition to chemical safety, climate change and other topics.
The discussions also covered ways to exchange information, and to hold training courses, workshops and visits between the two sides. The meetings were chaired by Dr Mai Muhamad al-Ghanem from the Agricultural Research Department and Dr Kathryn Callaghan, a chief scientific adviser at the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
