Doha - The latest statistics published by "Our World in Data", a scientific online publication compiling COVID-19 vaccination data from around the world, shows Qatar is ranked second in the world for the percentage of population that have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, among countries with a population of more than one million.
The Ministry of Public Health stated that since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program more than 4,230,000 vaccine doses have been administered, with 79.8 percent of the total population of Qatar having received at least one vaccine dose.

"Our World in Data" also ranks Qatar fifth in the world for the percentage of the population that are fully vaccinated, among countries with a population of more than one million, with 68.9 percent of the population having received two vaccine doses.
The Ministry of Public Health explained that the success of Qatar's vaccination program to date has been thanks to the overwhelming support of the community.
However, the Ministry said there are still a small number of people who are eligible for the vaccine who have not yet accepted their invitation to get vaccinated.
With the Delta Variant posing a greater threat to people in Qatar and around the world, the Ministry said it is extremely important that as many people as possible are vaccinated.
The Ministry urged people who are not yet vaccinated to get the vaccine and play their part in beating COVID-19.
