Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Culture and several Qatari publishers have participated in the 32nd annual Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which takes place from May 22-28, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
The Qatari publishers participating in the event include Dar Al Watad for Publishing and Distribution, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press and Qatar University Press.
Hosting the Republic of Turkiye as the guest of honor, this edition celebrates the concept of sustainability as a central idea with various initiatives, events and seminars aimed at highlighting global best practices to support sustainability trends in the publishing industry. It also organizes dialogue sessions and discussions on climate change and food security.
This edition will also focus on the achievements of 14th-century Arab philosopher, Ibn Khaldun, as a pioneer of social sciences.
Speaking with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Director of QU Press Prof. Fatma Al Sowaidi said that more than 50 QU Press' publications, including 10 new, will go on display at the event, most notably on museums, legal studies, social and human sciences, and proposals for translation.
Al Sowaidi added that their participation aims to highlight the QU Press as a leading publishing industry player at the international level, by publishing authors from around the world and participating in workshops to exchange ideas and experiences with international publishers, in a way that enhances the possibility of signing agreements and partnerships with regional and international distribution centers.
