Doha: Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, participated in the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the heads of national bodies concerned with Arab women. The meeting, which was held via the digital platform of the Arab Women's Committee, discussed the effects of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on women and girls in terms of opportunities and challenges.
Assistant Undersecretary for Social Affairs, Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs Ghanem Mubarak Al Kuwari, who is also Vice President of National Committee for Woman, Child,
Elderly and Persons with Disabilities Affairs, reviewed the efforts made by the State of Qatar to confront the COVID-19 effects and the measures taken by the State to protect childhood, motherhood and vulnerable groups.
A draft resolution and a final statement were issued at the end of the meeting, where the resolution stressed the need to continue efforts to confront the social, health and development implications on Arab women, and adopted a set of future meetings for more coordination of efforts.
The statement touched on the continued cooperation and coordination to mitigate the COVID-19 effects on women, children, and vulnerable groups through a partnership between all relevant governmental, international, and regional bodies.
