Doha: Even as weather department predicted a noticeable rise in temperature during the coming days, it also said that the winter is not over yet.
In its weekly report, the Qatar Meteorology Department said that due to the southerly wind there will be a noticeable rise in temperature with maximums exceeding 30 degree Celsius in some areas on Saturday, February 8.
Meanwhile, the department said that it expects there will be northwesterly fresh to strong wind returning from Sunday, February 9, reaching a peak from Monday until Wednesday, February 12, in association with a deepening high-pressure system over the region.
Wind speed expected to range between 15 to 25 kt inshore gusting to 35 kt causing dusty conditions at times with poor visibility below 2 km in some areas. Wind gusts offshore expected to reach more than 40 kt causing high waves exceeding 10 Ft.
The northerly wind will be accompanied with a cold spell with maximum temperatures ranging between 14 to 18 degree Celsius and minimums between 9 to 14 degree Celsius reaching below 9 degree Celsius in southern areas of the country.
Qatar Meteorology Department urged residents to be cautious, avoid all marine activities and to follow latest updates through its official social media accounts.
