While shedding light on the best practices and the latest developments of marine industries locally and globally, the eighth edition of the Qatar International Boat Show (QIBS) got underway at The Pearl-Qatar Tuesday.
The five-day event is under the auspices of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani.

HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Abdullah al-Thani inaugurated QIBS 2021 at 20-22, La Croisette, Porto Arabia, The Pearl-Qatar.
The minister visited various sections of the exhibition venue where he was briefed about the participating companies and their products on display. In a statement following the inauguration ceremony, the minister stressed the importance of the key event to showcase the latest developments in the sector, thus reiterating the nation's position as a leading global tourism destination.

“The exhibition is also a perfect platform to introduce the pioneers of boat manufacturing in Qatar and the world, to strengthen partnerships, and conclude important business deals, as well as help local companies benefit from the expertise of leading foreign companies in this industry,” he pointed out.
The Pearl-Qatar master developer United Development Company's (UDC) chairman Turki bin Mohamed al-Khater; president, CEO and board member Ibrahim Jassim al-Othman, Al Mannai Plus Events chairman Khalid Eissa al-Mannai, QIBS chairman Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, and other dignitaries were present.

The show is attended by around 35 companies with over 50 yachts, jet skis, water sports equipment and other accessories on display. Al-Mannai said a number of marine and non-marine equipment and products will be launched during the exhibition. This includes Qatar-made 35 new model boats including a 25ft yacht and two speed boats; US made Aquakart by Speed Moto; and two China-made electric compact and compact USV by Chery.

The British-made Cox Diesel Outboard Engine V8 -300HP has been launched in the GCC and Middle East region by Gulf Yachts from the QIBS platform. The event also has for the first time a section of pre-owned yachts for sale. In addition, Hospitality Development Company (HDC) will be officially opening the Shirvan Metisse Doha restaurant during the exhibition.

The strategic partners of the 2021 edition are UDC and Qatar Airways; the hosts are The Pearl-Qatar and Ronautica Middle East; and silver sponsors include Qatar Free Zone and Investment House. The event concludes on Saturday.
