Qatar Foundation to host array of community activities for Ramadan

Doha: Culture, food, education, and tests of knowledge will all form part of an array of activities organized by Qatar Foundation during Ramadan.

Members of the community will have the opportunity to participate in a series of in-person and virtual events, sessions, and challenges throughout the Holy Month, with those taking place in-person being held in accordance with public health guidelines.

Activities and events during the Holy Month will include:

• Islamic Information Challenge: an online challenge organized by Qatar National Library that is designed to enhance children’s awareness of Islam and also their research skills. Taking place in Arabic, it runs from April 1-22, and you can register at www.qf.org.qa/events/islamic-information-challenge

• Ramadan Challenges: Quizzes for Young Adults: weekly challenges organized by Qatar National Library from April 1-30 and taking place via Instagram (QNL_children). To register, visit www.qf.org.qa/events/ramadan-challenges-quizzes-for-young-adults.

• Bon Appétit: a Ramadan cooking demonstration on Instagram Live, with Rasha Esbeetan and Momeena Salaheldin, on April 5. To register, visit www.qf.org.qa/events/bon-appetit-april-2022

• Qatar Running Series Track Challenge: a new Ramadan running challenge at Oxygen Park in Education City, from April 7-20, which will feature a series of timed races spanning 15, 30, and 45 minutes. • Night of Garangao: marking the time-honored Ramadan tradition, Qatar National Library will host a session about how to prepare Garangao treats, on April 11. Visit www.qf.org.qa/events/night-of-garangao to register. 

• Manuscript Studies Lecture Series – Studying Qur’anic Manuscripts: A New Approach: taking place on April 11, and organized by Qatar National Library and the Center for Manuscript Studies at Fatih Sultan Mehmed Waqf University in Istanbul, this will explore topics and answer questions surrounding Islamic manuscript culture. • Cookbooks to Inspire Your Ramadan Recipes: An online session via Instagram Live (QNL-engage), with registration available at www.qf.org.qa/events/cookbooks-to-inspire-your-ramadan-recipes

• Ramadan Cultural Nights: A nightly activity, running from April 13-23, that is open to the public and aims to provide a platform for learning about Ramadan and local culture. It will feature a variety of cultural activities, performances, workshops, and exhibitions for families, and include a Garangao celebration.
