Doha, Qatar: Korean music enthusiasts in Qatar are invited to participate in the K-Pop World Festival, set to take place in Changwon in October 2024.
The Korean Embassy in Qatar has announced that auditions for the Qatar region are now open. Fans are encouraged to submit their dance or vocal performance videos, along with an interview clip, by July 18, 2024. All submission materials, including the performance video, interview video, and application form, should be sent in a single email to kangmk1107@mofa.or.kr.
While all residents in Qatar are welcome to join the contest, participants are recommended to be at least 16 years old.
An independent panel will evaluate the videos based on choreography skills, charm, expressions, and stage presence. The results of the regional preliminaries will be announced by August 11, 2024, on the Embassy's social media platforms.
The embassy noted that winners of the regional preliminaries will not be automatically guaranteed a spot in the main competition in Korea. "Once the winners for the regional preliminary in Qatar are decided, the Embassy will inform the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), the host of the 2024 Changwon K-Pop World Festival, who will then decide which preliminary winners will proceed to the main competition," the embassy stated.
The embassy also mentioned that airfare and accommodation expenses will be covered for those who are selected to participate in the main competition.
