Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) revealed a significant achievement with the elevation of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open from ATP250 to ATP500. This transformation represents a landmark in the tournament's evolution, starting from its inception in 1993.
The ATP500 status upgrade for the Qatar ExxonMobil Open will commence from 2025. This progression reinforces Qatar's stature as a prominent international sports destination, with the upgraded event becoming one of its prized jewels.
Acknowledging the ATP's continued trust and support, the QTF expressed gratitude for providing the opportunity to enhance the tournament's level.
The QTF stated in a press release: "Our dedication to creating a top-tier tournament has led to the Qatar ExxonMobil Open receiving the ATP250 of the Year title in 5 of the last 8 years.
