As part of the project worth QR75,060, each of the 278 orphans sponsored by QC in the Gaza Strip received schoolbags, uniforms and stationery items, Qatar Charity said in a statement.
“I am very delighted that I will start the second semester of this academic year with a new schoolbag, uniform and stationery items,” said 10 year-old Amjad, expressing his joyful feeling at receiving school materials.
“This aid arrived on time to meet the school requirements of my two sons studying in school,” said a mother of two, thanking benefactors in Qatar for the support.
“The project aims at easing economic pressures on the families of the orphans by providing them with school supplies,” said Mohamed Abu Haloub, director of QC's office in the Gaza Strip.
Qatar Charity works to support the Palestinian education sector along with other sectors. Its educational support includes building and repairing schools, classrooms and training centres, in addition to providing them with solar power.
QC’s education projects in Gaza include the construction and furnishing of six classrooms at Fahd Al-Sabah School, opening Al-Shaimaa Secondary School for Girls in Beit Lahia, giving alternative energy to 60 schools in the light of continuous powercuts and providing scientific laboratories to public schools, in addition many other projects that have been implemented in the education sector of Gaza.
