Qatar Charity, IOM sign agreement

Qatar Charity has signed a co-operation agreement with the United Nations International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Kuwait with the aim of implementing urgent response projects in Iraq, Yemen and Syria, with $1mn  funding from Qatar Charity.

The agreement was signed by Assistant to CEO in the International Operations and Partnerships Sector at Qatar Charity Faisal Rashid al-Fehaida and IOM Kuwait’s Chief of Mission Iman Ereiqat.

Under the agreement, urgent response projects will be implemented in Iraq at a total cost of $600,000, benefiting 107,000 people. The projects will support health and protection services in Nineveh city, rebuild 120 destroyed homes in Mosul and respond to the water crisis in Al Qurnah, Basra.

The agreement also stipulated support for the project to improve the quality of maternal and child care in Yemen, at an estimated cost of $200,000, benefiting 4,000 people, mostly children. 

Meanwhile, about 4,000 people affected by the Syrian crisis will benefit from multisectoral aid in Syria, at an estimated cost of $200,000.

On the sidelines of the signing, the two parties agreed to continue developing the relationship between Qatar Charity and the IOM to work together to reach a strategic agreement between the two parties.
