Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has launched the ‘Our passion in our health’ programme at Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre, which will last for three months and target all women in the Qatari community.
Participants will receive certificates and giveaways, according to a statement.
The ‘Our passion in our health’ programme aims to raise awareness about the most common the types of cancers among women in Qatar - breast cancer, cervical cancer, thyroid cancer; educate them about risk factors related to cancer, warning signs and symptoms, methods of prevention and early detection; educate them about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle - healthy food and physical activity, and how to switch from an unhealthy to a healthy lifestyle.
The programme includes two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is about common cancers, prevention and early detection, and unhealthy lifestyle behaviours and their modification.
The practical part offers training on breast cancer signs and symptoms using educational models - educate the attendees on how to detect breast cancer and reinforce the concept of healthy lifestyles through nutrition, healthy cooking workshops, practical demonstration of healthy dishes with a chef and nutritionist and by emphasising their role in the prevention of cancer.
