Qatar Airways has expressed its support and solidarity with the State of Qatar by installing a giant canvas of the iconic image of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, at the airline’s corporate headquarters on Thursday.
The portrait, widely recognised by its title ‘Tamim Al Majd’ (Tamim the glorious), has become the face of Qatari resilience during the ongoing economic blockade.
It has been created by contemporary Qatari artist Ahmed bin Majed al-Maadheed.
Qatar Airways senior officials and employees, led by its Group Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker, unveiled the giant canvas and penned messages of love, loyalty, and patriotism.
Hamad International Airport (HIA) COO Engineer Badr al -Meer, HIA’s vice president for commercial and marketing Abdulaziz Abdulla al-Mass, and other dignitaries also attended the event.
“This signing event marks a very proud moment for us here at Qatar Airways as we celebrate our unity in the midst of this unprecedented blockade against my country,” al-Baker said.
“I am truly glad to see so many of our employees from Qatar, as well as many other nations all across the world here, to enthusiastically show their support.
“The State of Qatar will continue to strive, expand, and excel in all areas, and we as an airline will also follow the same path, because we don’t believe in boundaries, we believe in bringing people together.
“We will continue to fly the skies, and we will continue to go places together.”
The event also attracted some of the country’s renowned social media influencers, as well as famous Qatari singer Fahad al-Kubaisi, who is also Qatar Airways' newest brand ambassador.
“I’m thrilled to be here for this important event where we have gathered to show our unity as a nation in the midst of this blockade. Such a significant show of support from Qatar Airways employees is truly inspiring to see,” he said in a statement.

Dignitaries and guests pen messages loyalty and patriotism
The installation of ‘Tamim Al Majd’ canvas at Qatar Airways’ Tower 2 is expected to draw a large number of airline employees, as well as residents in the area, to sign on the canvas, expressing their solidarity with Qatar and its wise leadership.
Such memorable occasion comes at a time when Qatar Airways and Qatar are constructively working side by side to enable the national carrier to continue providing the same level of world-class service it always has despite the illegally-imposed blockade.
In a defiant response to the current flight bans, the airline's recently-launched television and social media commercial titled ‘No Borders, Only Horizons’ has been viewed by more than 54mn viewers worldwide. It was ranked as the top viral video during the last week of June.
