Doha: The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in Qatar has reminded Filipino workers in the country on the mandatory requirement of a Pag-IBIG number — Philippines’ Home Development Mutual Fund which is a government-owned and controlled corporation.
In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, POEA in Qatar said that it requires all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and aspiring OFWs to provide and encode their Pag-IBIG member ID number (MID) into their e-Registration System account.
The advisory further explained that members should provide their Pag-IBIG MID number for all transactions being made under the mutual fund in order to avoid delays in processing of loan and provident fund benefit claim application of its OFW members, and to ensure uninterrupted availment of its benefits.
OFWs who don’t have a Pag-IBIG MID number, register at POEA E-Registration system or at Pag-IBIG’s website.
If an overseas worker has a Pag-IBIG MID number but unable to recall, they can request via Virtual Pag-IBIG or call the mutual fund’s hotline 02 8724 4244, email contactus@pagibigfund.gov.ph, chat via pagibigfund.gov.ph, or send a private message via Pag-IBIG Fund Facebook page. Once verified, OFW member shall encode the number into their POEA e-Registration account.
Having the mandatory Pag-IBIG member ID is also applicable to job-seekers applying for overseas employment, and OFWs who have already been deployed.
Meanwhile, the payment of the mutual fund contributions shall be made during acquisition of Overseas Employment Certificate which is being issued to overseas Filipinos who exit from the Philippines for employment purpose and returning Filipino workers to the same employer abroad.
