The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will temporarily close both the Athba and Lejthaya interchanges on North Road to enable the construction of service roads there as part of the North Road Corridor Enhancement project.
The diversions, carried out in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will start on Sunday (October 22) and continue until November 20, Ashghal has said in a press statement.
During the diversion period, Athba Interchange users can travel through the neighbouring Fuwairit Interchange and Al Mafyar Interchange instead, along with the recently constructed service roads along Al Shamal Road.
Also, Lejthaya Interchange users can commute through the nearby Lehwaila Interchange and Fuwairit Interchange instead, along with the recently created service roads along Al Shamal Road, Ashghal has said.
The authority has stressed that traffic on the North Road main carriageway will not be affected by the closures.
For their safety, Ashghal has requested motorists to abide by traffic instructions and the newly installed signage.
