Doha, Qatar: Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced its decision to refrain restaurants and cafes from allowing customers inside and outside the store.
Restaurants and cafes have been ordered to close their doors and only home deliver orders until further notice.
This decision is within the framework of the preventive measures established by Qatar to contain the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to preserve the health and safety of citizens and residents.
The Ministry in a statement said in line with previous decisions and procedures, the following was decided:
To allow restaurants and cafes (coffee shops) to provide delivery services.
The owners of restaurants and cafes (coffee shops) shall comply with the following procedures:
- To ban customers from collecting orders and to close the doors of restaurants and cafes (coffee shops)
- To refrain from hosting customers both inside and outside the store
This decision does not include kiosks licensed as restaurants and cafes located in tourist areas, sports clubs, Lusail City, and The Pearl among other locations, and they will remain closed until further notice.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that administrative employees and staff of restaurants and cafes (coffee shops) must comply with health and safety measures.
The Ministry cautioned against violating this decision, which will subject transgressors to the penalties stipulated in applicable laws, decisions and regulations.
This decision was issued on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, and is subject to amendments and changes according to the latest developments in this regard.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry urged all citizens and residents to seek information only from official sources, and to consult the Ministry's website and social media pages for the latest news and updates.
