Nasser Bin Khaled (NBK) Automobiles, the authorised general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Qatar, has presented the new Mercedes-AMG GT R, giving the “ultra-sporty car’s enthusiasts” the opportunity to enjoy the vehicle on the roads of Qatar.
Khaled Sha’aban, general manager of NBK Automobiles, said: “Qatari motorists are well known for their great admiration of speed and unique cars, and we are confident that the new Mercedes-AMG GT R will be their favourite choice, thanks to its new features and design.”
The new AMG GT R is now available at the NBK Mercedes-Benz dealership on Salwa Road, according to a press statement.
“From the world’s most demanding racetrack directly onto the road: never before has the Mercedes AMG packed so much motorsport technology into a production vehicle than into the new AMG GT R. The front-mid-engine concept with transaxle, the twin-turbo V-8 engine rated at 430kW/585hp, the extensively modified suspension, the new aerodynamics and the intelligent lightweight construction lay the foundations for an especially dynamic driving experience,” the statement notes.
Aerodynamics engineers and designers worked together more intensively than ever during the development of the new AMG GT R. Together, they ensured that every element of the AMG GT R has an inherent technical benefit that enhances driving dynamics. Moreover, the AMG design idiom of ‘Dynamic Presence’ formed the basis for the vehicle’s expressive appearance and distinct look. In addition to the powerfully sculpted body and motorsport components, the new AMG Panamericana grille is a real eye-catcher.
The suspension of the new AMG high-performance sports model is also designed for racetrack use, while the new AMG GT R is even more sensitive to steering inputs thanks to standard-fit active rear-wheel steering, which is being used for the first time on a Mercedes-AMG model.
The ESP OFF mode allows drivers to exert even more influence on the handling characteristics of the AMG GT R. The new AMG Traction Control system allows drivers to pre-select the slip on the driven rear axle in nine levels.
The speed-sensitive sports steering features a variable steering ratio, which enhances vehicle handling and agility at low speeds while maintaining driving safety at high speeds.
As is the case with other elements, the AMG GT R’s interior draws inspiration from motorsport. The low seat position seamlessly integrates the driver into the cockpit. Extremely light, manually adjustable AMG sports bucket seats upholstered in Exclusive nappa leather and DINAMICA microfibre come as standard in GCC markets.
The AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine in the AMG GT R has an output of 430kW (585hp), which is 55kW (7hp) more than the previous top-of-the-range engine in the GT S. The peak torque of 700Nm is available between 1,900 and 5,500rpm. With acceleration of zero to 100km/h achieved in just 3.6 seconds, and a top speed of 318km/h, the capabilities of the AMG GT R will undoubtedly translate into extremely fast laps on the
racetrack.
