Doha: The General Directorate of Passports, in collaboration with the Information Systems Department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), has launched Personal Data Change service on Metrash2 application.
The Ministry stated that this "new service will allow the public to change the name and date of birth electronically without visiting Name Changing Committee at the General Directorate of Passports."
The application to change the personal data can be submitted in simple steps by selecting Residency Services on the homepage and click Change Personal Info then select Apply Applications.
Upon selecting, the applicant must enter the QID number and select among the options of Name Change and Date of Birth Change then fill in the details.
The next step includes attaching the required documents including a written letter clarifying the reason for the change, copy of the old passport before changing, copy of the present passport after changing, and birth certificate attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Once the registration process is complete, the applicant will receive a confirmation message "Your application has been registered successfully.”
The Ministry also noted that this application can only be made within Qatar.
The new service also enables an option to track and follow up the application by selecting the Follow Up Applications option and enter the applicant's ID No or the application owner.
After receiving the approval message, an approved form of the newspaper advertisement will be sent to the e-mail. This shall be advertised in newspapers accredited in the country as per the language of the document used for the residence permit.
To complete the personal data change application, the newspaper advertisement must be attached after 14 days from the date of publication.
The applicant can simply select the option Upload Newspaper Memo and select the application. The applicant must choose the newspaper and the language according to the nationality registered in the identification documents. Fill out the required data and attach the copy of the advt, specifying its start date.
The applicant will receive a message stating that the process is completed.
Children under the age of seven do not require a newspaper advertisement.
