MoCI shuts training centre, warehouses over violations

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) Tuesday announced the closure of a training centre in Ain Khaled and three warehouses in Birkat Al-Awamer for 14 days each for violating Law No (5) of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors.

The training centre failed to meet the general and specific requirements whereas the warehouses practised a commercial activity without having the required licensing, the ministry explained in separate statements.

The actions form part of the MoCI’s efforts to monitor, regulate markets and commercial activities across Qatar, and to assess the degree of compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities, in a bid to uncover and crack down on violations.

The ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in Law No (5) of 2015.

The ministry is working to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices, and to refer violators of laws and ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take due measures.

The ministry also urged all citizens and residents to report any violations pertaining to the registration and commercial licensing via following channels: Call Centre: 16001; Twitter @MOCIQATAR, Instagram MOCIQATAR.
