The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Department of Public Hygiene and the Department of Public Relations, marked the World Cleanup Day 2021, which falls on the third Saturday in September of each year.
To mark the occasion, the Ministry organized a variety of events and activities, with the aim of enhancing the value and importance of hygiene among members of society and encouraging them to contribute to reducing pollution and preserving the environment.
The activities included holding a mini-awareness exhibition in the Doha Festival City for 5 days, to raise awareness of the hygiene law and the most important violations and penalties it contains, with the aim of urging the public to avoid negative practices and highlighting the efforts made by the Ministry and the facilities provided to the public throughout the country, in addition to the most important services provided in all areas of cleanliness, and the services provided by the Public Hygiene Department via the Ministry’s website.
Within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness on community partnership, coordination has been made with a number of authorities in the country to activate the laws on public hygiene by displaying awareness videos and phrases through their social media platforms, in addition to cooperating with the Qatari Center of Social Cultural for the Deaf (QCSCD) by translating a video of the Public Hygiene Law into sign language and raising awareness for people with hearing disabilities.
Coordination was also made to carry out a number of cleaning campaigns in cooperation with the Beaches and Islands Section included Bin Ghannam Island, Freiha Beach and roadsides in the Umm Bab and the North region.
