Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) urged people to report any cases of begging as Qatari law criminalises begging and people must give only to charity organizations.
The Anti-Begging Section conducts drives during Ramadan to nab beggars who are exploiting people’s sympathy to cheat them.
Cases of begging become rampant during Ramadan and MoI has urged residents to alert the Criminal Investigation Department's Anti-begging section about any case of begging.
“You may call the Criminal Investigation Department's Anti-begging section on 2347444 - 33618627 or report through Metrash2 app,” tweeted the Ministry on its twitter account.
It affirmed that “begging is a bad habit rejected by religion and society.”
Anyone who wants to give a donation should give it only to charity organizations because they are the ones who are responsible for the collection and distribution of charity. These organizations are better equipped to distribute charity properly because of their continuous study of the people in distress and need. Some people are making begging their job and they move from one place to another to gather more money.
