Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) represented by the Fish Affairs Department has released 40,000 baby or fingerling of black sea bream fishes, locally known as ‘Al Sh’am’, in Qatari sea waters.
On its third batch, the black sea bream released in the sea has reached 91,000, said the Ministry in statement.
The baby fishes were released at two suitable and safe locations in the northern coastal area.
The release operation is set continue and aims to release 200,000 black sea bream to boost strategic stock of fish in Qatari waters in line with the plan of Aquatic Research Center of Ras Matbakh to farm and release baby fishes in the sea.
