Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) carried out ‘Al Furjan’ campaign, last week during which residential areas and neighbourhoods were disinfected in Al Daayen and Umm Salal municipalities as part of a major campaign which is running across the municipalities to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The campaign is an effort of the ‘Committee for Volunteering Work Initiative’ of MME, which is being taken in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society’s (QRCS) volunteers, to maintain hygiene at public places to ensure the health and safety of residents.
The campaigns targeted many vital facilities and establishments, internal streets of residential complexes, and the areas of Al Furjan (neighbourhoods) and its main streets.
Muqbel Mudhour Al Shammari, Director of General Cleanliness Department at MME, said that within the work to support volunteering initiative, a campaign to clean and disinfect neighbourhood in Al Kharaitiyat has been implemented, which included the internal streets, homes, Al Furjan markets and all facilities of residential neighbourhoods.
He pointed out that fully environmentally friendly materials were used for spraying and disinfecting the targeted areas.
Hamad Al Baridi, Head of General Cleanliness Section at Umm Salal Municipality, said that in coordination with the team of volunteers of QRCS, all residential neighbourhoods in the Al Kharaitiyat area were disinfected. He said that garbage containers were also cleaned and disinfected. Al Baridi said that the campaign will continue to disinfect all regions until the epidemic is controlled. He called on all residents to adhere to the instructions of the competent authorities and to remain at homes for their safety and the safety of everyone.
Meanwhile, a number of volunteers from QRCS participated in a comprehensive disinfection campaign implemented by the Department of Services Affairs in Al Daayen Municipality within the efforts of the volunteering initiative at the Ministry, which included cleaning the internal streets in Al Furjan areas and complexes for selling foot items, according to a daily schedule to cover all areas.
The Ministry intensified during the last period campaigns of disinfection of vital installations and facilities and the main and internal streets across the municipalities.
