Prices of many popular local fish have declined significantly, thanks to the bulletin issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to fix the maximum prices for selling fish and seafood.
The prices of Sheri fish, which remains in high demand, has gone down to QR5 per kg this week from QR15 in the last week, according to the new price bulletin shared by the Ministry on its official social account yesterday.
The fresh bulletin, valid until April 25, fixed the maximum prices of Sheri fish at QR5 per kg for large and medium sizes and QR4 per kg for small size. Sheri fish maximum price in the last-week bulletin was QR15 per kg for large and medium sizes and QR9 per kg for small size.
The prices of Safe fish has also been reduced to QR11 per kg for small size, QR13 per kg for medium size and QR17 large size per kg, compared to the last week from QR17, QR31 and QR32 respectively.
The new bulletin put many popular local fishes on very competitive prices as kingfish (locally known as Kanad) is available at QR28 per kg small and large size and QR32 per kg for medium.Last week, the king fish was priced at QR31, QR35 and QR39 per kg as large, medium and small respectively.
The Ministry had earlier also said that it will intensify its inspection campaigns to ensure the suppliers’ compliance with the daily price bulletin.
Traders shall also refrain from taking any measures or actions aimed at raising the prices of fish.
